Dear Parents,
I am delighted
to welcome you and your child to St Mark’s C.E. Junior School. We believe it
is a warm and friendly place in which to work and learn where children can
thrive.
Our primary
aim is to settle the children quickly and easily into an environment where they
feel happy, supported and challenged. It is within such an environment that we
believe children will flourish and be encouraged to do their best, whatever
their starting point. Excellence and enjoyment are two themes that are evident
in all we try and do in our school. We encourage every child’s interest in
learning and help them develop as individuals through the next stages in their
lives. Regardless of ability or interests we try to engage our learners through
familiar as well as the new opportunities, situations and activities.
We believe
that children are innately curious, therefore part of our challenge is to
channel that thirst for living and learning so they can flourish into
independent and lifelong learners. We feel that through the development of
children’s core skills and attitudes we are well placed to be able to prepare
them for the next stage in their education and life.
We believe our
friendly ethos is evident when you walk into school for the first time and you
need only stop to talk to our children and witness their care and consideration
to get a real feel for our school and what we do.
However we fully understand that education is a partnership between home
and school and in order for our children achieve and develop fully it requires
us all working together. Therefore if things are not going well for your child
please inform us immediately as we will always work hard to resolve any problems
early on. Similarly, if things are going well let us know. Like children we too
respond to praise and encouragement.
Experienced,
enthusiastic and supportive staff are the foundation of this school and it is
through their collective work and understanding that we are able to provide a
consistent and supportive environment that is sympathetic to the demands,
interests and needs of all our children. We feel that our systems are successful
in the smooth integration of all children joining our school, however it is
through generating positive, productive relationships with parents early on that
we can really enhance this process.
All children
at the school are treated the same and our high expectations in manners,
behaviour and achievement apply to everyone. We truly believe that all children
can make progress, enjoy themselves and be successful and that equality of
opportunity is a right every child receives in our school.
If, after
visiting our website, you have any further questions, please contact me at your
earliest convenience. Happy, informed parents, like children, are important to
us as well.
I hope your
child’s time at St Mark’s will be one for you both to always fondly
remember.
Yours
faithfully
Gareth
