The following online event may interest Year 5 pupils and parents to whet your appetite ahead of our Ancient Greece topic next term.

Travel to Ancient Greece - Wednesday 26th May 6pm

Travel to Ancient Corinth, Greece and connect with a real archaeologist to learn about the myths, artifacts and monuments that make this ancient city unique! The Corinth Excavations Educator will give you a sneak peak at the ongoing excavations by the American School of Classical Studies and a look inside the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth.  Recommended Age Range: 5 - 12

A Kenning is a two word phrase describing something using a metaphor. Kennings came from Anglo-Saxon and Norse cultures.  We have written poems about Beowulf and Grendel.

Really big numbers

If big numbers, really big numbers are your thing, here is a great little website that turns numbers written in figures into text so you can read them.

Transtar

A space-themed game which helps you learn and practice reflections, rotations and enlargements on a grid.

Factris

A clever take on the  80s computer game where you have to arrange falling shapes to make complete rows.  
The original version Tetris with different shapes that you rotate is good fun too and helps you develop shape skills.  The whole site Mathigon is worth exploring.
